Title: Texas Poet and Artist May Anderson Releases Debut Poetry Collection, Tranquil Thoughts

Buffalo, United States, 23rd Sep 2026 - May Anderson, a self-taught artist from Lockhart, Texas, has released her debut poetry collection, Tranquil Thoughts. The book is now available in paperback on Amazon. Tranquil Thoughts brings together short, plainly written poems about love, loss, patience, and faith. The poems focus on everyday feelings, such as missing someone, waiting for things to get better, and staying strong through a hard season, rather than on complicated ideas or literary style. The book is written for teens and adults of any background, including readers who do not usually read poetry. Anderson has worked as a geometric abstract artist since 1980, using acrylics, watercolors, and pen and ink. Her paintings have been shown locally, including at her town library. Tranquil Thoughts is her first published book and her first major work in writing rather than visual art. She says the two forms come from the same place: a habit of turning strong feelings into something she can show other people. “I wrote this book because I have felt every one of these things myself,” Anderson said. “If even one poem helps someone feel less alone on a hard day, then it did what I wanted it to do.” The collection is organized around feelings readers can recognize quickly, and each poem is short enough to read in a few minutes. Anderson hopes the book gives readers a place to sit with hard feelings and, eventually, to feel a little better. About Tranquil Thoughts Tranquil Thoughts is a debut poetry collection by May Anderson.
