Title: California Lemon Law: How San Diego Drivers Can Get a Refund or Replacement for a Defective Vehicle

 SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA — August 10, 2026 — California consumers who own or lease vehicles that repeatedly return to the repair shop for warranty-covered problems may have rights to a refund, replacement, or other compensation under California's Lemon Law, according to Scott Law Group P.C., a San Diego-based litigation firm founded by attorney Christian Scott.Under California's Lemon Law, certain qualifying new motor vehicles may benefit from a legal presumption that the manufacturer has been given a reasonable number of opportunities to repair the vehicle when specific conditions occur within the first 18 months after delivery or the first 18,000 miles on the odometer, whichever occurs first.Subject to applicable statutory requirements, the presumption may arise when the same defect that is likely to cause death or serious bodily injury has been subject to repair at least twice, the same qualifying nonconformity has been subject to repair at least four times, or the vehicle has been out of service because of warranty repairs for a cumulative total of more than 30 calendar days.Those thresholds are not the only circumstances in which a consumer may have a claim.
