After that date, Microsoft will no longer issue security updates, bug fixes, or technical support for any Office 2021 edition on Windows or Mac. The applications will continue to open and run, but every vulnerability discovered from that point onward remains permanently unpatched.What makes this deadline unusual is what follows it: nothing. Perpetual Office releases have historically carried a ten-year lifecycle — five years of mainstream support followed by five years of extended support. Beginning with the 2021 generation, Microsoft removed the extended phase entirely, halving the supported lifespan. There is no extended support period for Office 2021 and no paid Extended Security Updates programme of the kind offered to Windows 10 customers. The date is the end of the line.The same date applies to Office LTSC 2021, the Long-Term Servicing Channel edition many organisations selected specifically because they expected a longer support runway.
