The methodology considers the number of surveys distributed to students, the number of completed surveys submitted, and each instructor's average rating across completed evaluations.For the 2025 recognition cycle, American Sailing reported 2,446 active-status instructors worldwide. Of those instructors, 850 met the eligibility requirements established through the organization's selection criteria for courses taught. Thirty instructors were recognized as Outstanding Instructors, representing 27 cities and towns across 14 states, provinces, or territories, and two countries.
