Operating through its official digital platform, CPD.EDU.EU, the European CPD Council is advancing a structured approach to professional development through the International Professional Credit System, with a focus on institutional classification, provider recognition, quality assurance, and public transparency.Higher Education Classification FrameworkAt the center of the Council’s work is the Higher Education Classification framework, developed specifically for universities, colleges, and recognized higher education institutions. The framework evaluates institutional performance and commitment in the field of Continuing Professional Development through a structured, evidence-based methodology.Unlike traditional academic rankings, the EU CPD classification model focuses specifically on how higher education institutions design, govern, deliver, evaluate, and continuously improve professional development activities.Participating institutions are assessed across key areas including CPD governance and strategy, quality assurance, learning outcomes, assessment practices, faculty and professional development, digital innovation, industry relevance, learner support, institutional transparency, and continuous improvement.Based on the evaluation process, eligible institutions may receive a classification level ranging from C1 to C4, with C1 representing the highest level of classification.
