Tokyo, Japan, 6th Aug 2026 - At Park Hotel Tokyo (Operated by Shiba Park Hotel Co., Ltd. / Minato-ku, Tokyo / President: Noriyoshi Tanaka), artists paint directly onto the walls and ceilings of our guest rooms, shaping each space in its entirety into a single art installation. We call them Artist Rooms.Taking Japanese culture and Japanese aesthetics as its themes, the project works hand in hand with Japanese artists to create stay experiences found nowhere else.Here we introduce the Artist Room “Fireworks” (available from September 2025) by Ayairo. In this interview she speaks about the background to her work and the thoughts she carried into the room. Ayairo shares the inspiration and creative story behind her artwork. From English to Art: How Ayairo Became a Japanese ArtistAlthough her interests may appear unrelated, Ayairo sees them as connected in a single line. She loved to draw from an early age, and a fascination with Hollywood actors led her to study English. Through studying abroad, she encountered other cultures and began to look more closely at her own identity. The sense that drawing allowed her to understand something about herself led her to begin painting works themed around childhood.Satoyama and Childhood: The Origins of Her Japanese ArtAyairo’s view of her own work has changed significantly since she began. Rather than painting to convey a predetermined message, her work now begins with an impulse — something moves her. As she works, she selects and discards repeatedly, only later recognizing what drew her. That process has become the axis of her practice.As a result, Ayairo expresses not the landscape itself but the sensation it evokes. For her, exploring that sensation is the essence of creation.
