In an extraordinary effort to inspire change and uplift communities, global thought leaders Lady JB Owen and Peter Giesin have embarked on a record-breaking tandem cycling journey from Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, to Homer, Alaska, last week. Their mission? To Ignite Humanity™, one pedal stroke at a time while raising awareness and support for Inspiration Classrooms™, a global initiative delivering educational opportunities and sustainably built learning facilities to underserved areas around the world.The ambitious endeavor, called Cycle to Ignite Humanity, spans 9,037.6 kilometers with an elevation gain of 305,000 feet or 9500 meters, equivalent to ten times the height of Mount Everest. Over 80 days, the pair will ride through three countries, pushing physical and mental limits in pursuit of a World Record. More than a monumental athletic feat, the ride symbolizes the power of human determination and the transformative impact of education.“Our goal is to show what’s possible when we come together to support one another,” says Lady JB Owen, founder of Ignite Publishing and visionary behind Ignite Humanity. “We’re cycling to create conversations, spark inspiration, and bring tangible educational resources to communities that need them most.”This is not their first ride to raise awareness. The couple cycled 5,000 km, across five provinces, to Canada’s capital in 2020. In 2021, the duo cycled 7,000km throughout western Canada to Alaska. 2022 saw them travel 10,000km coast to coast from Vancouver to Newfoundland, and in 2023, they rode their tandem bike from Canada to the tip of the Baja Peninsula, Mexico.
