Title: CFSD Governing Board Candidates Bart Pemberton & Jennifer Repscher

For several months now, CFSD residents have had the opportunity to assess two distinctly different governing board philosophies.  One, represented by our opponents and the current board leadership, considers itself all-knowing and all-compassionate.  These members think they should have the final say on just about everything in your child’s life.  What the parents want or think is irrelevant.  The Students First candidates know best.  If you question them, they will first ignore you, then tell you nothing is wrong, and finally, call you names. Bart Pemberton and Jennifer Repscher represent the alternative.  They don’t pretend to have the answer to everything.  They don’t pretend they know better than parents what is best for their children.  They know and respect that parents can and do have different opinions and beliefs regarding how to raise their children best, and they will do their utmost to ensure that the school district will do the same.  They will respectfully meet, and have conversations with, parents who have legitimate concerns for the well-being of their children while they are at school.When the board ignores legitimate concerns, it can lead to dismay and harsh words.Part of the way to alleviate the current contentious atmosphere would be for all of us to remember that we care so much about what happens in the schools because we love our children.  We can then remember and admit that, though we all love our children, we will not always agree on the best solution to any particular problem that they, individually or collectively, may face.  Finally, we can do our best to discuss the pressing issues facing our schools professionally and lovingly in the proper public forum of a school board meeting....
