United States, 14th Jul 2025 – Drowning remains the leading cause of death for children ages 1 to 4 in the United States. A new course from Georgia-based educator Nicole Fairfield is shifting the tide by putting power back in the hands of parents.

Fairfield, founder of Georgia Swim School and the trauma-informed swim method Joyful Waters, has launched a parent-led swim instruction course that blends science, safety, and emotional awareness. Designed for parents of babies, toddlers, and preschool-aged children, the course challenges outdated, force-based methods and teaches floating, breath control, and water comfort through gentle, child-led techniques.

“Swimming is not about forced submersions or meeting someone else’s timeline,” says Fairfield. “It’s about connection, confidence, and breaking the cycle of fear. Parents are the most powerful swim teachers their children will ever have.”

Joyful Waters uses playful drills, supported floating, and consent-based interaction to build real skills without trauma. The course includes weekly coaching calls, access to a private community, and an exclusive set of “Swim With Me” waterproof skill cards.
